Canvas Studio is a boutique brand and motion design agency with a 7-year track record and a client list that includes three Fortune 500 companies. Their website told none of this. Built on a template in 2021, it had the aesthetic of a junior designer's first portfolio — a grid of thumbnails, a PDF deck linked from the about page, and a contact form averaging one enquiry per week. The new site needed to function as a primary business development tool demonstrating creative intelligence before a prospective client ever reads a word.

The creative brief was uniquely self-referential: the agency's work had evolved significantly but the site signalled a studio frozen in time. Premium clients were landing on the homepage and forming impressions before reaching the work. The existing case study structure was flat — a title, a paragraph, and a gallery of static screenshots — with no narrative, no strategic context, and no sense of the thinking behind the output. The site also had significant performance issues: a 6.8-second average load time and a Lighthouse score of 34.


We led both creative direction and execution. The new site opens with a full-viewport editorial sequence — a rotating showcase of three signature projects each rendered with custom cursor interactions and ambient motion. Navigation was reduced to four items. Case studies were restructured around a three-act narrative: brief, thinking, and outcome. Every project page ends with a contextual next project maintaining momentum. Lighthouse performance score reached 91 at launch and inbound enquiries increased from 4 to 19 per month within 8 weeks.
